Considering COVID-19’s economic impacts, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey extended the state’s moratorium on residential evictions to Oct. 31. However, as leading bankruptcy attorney Lamar Hawkins explains in a Cronkite News article, renters will need to keep open communication with landlords and stay informed on the latest updates and requirements.

According to the article, almost half of the rental assistance applications are missing documentation, slowing the process and keeping the approval rate around 7%. Because Lamar says it is often easier and more cost effective for landlords to keep current tenants, he urges renters to communicate their efforts and rectify any issues sooner rather than later.

Several Arizona outlets republished the article, including Arizona Daily Sun, Copper Courier, Herald Review and Verde Valley Independent and Camp Verde Bugle.

Lamar is among the most prominent voices in Arizona regarding bankruptcy law and is regularly called on to share his expertise. His practice centers on all phases of commercial and consumer debt workout and bankruptcy services, helping both businesses and individuals resolve challenging financial issues.
