Many construction firms are grappling with Arizona’s laws on recreational and medical marijuana in their workplaces. To address the most common concerns and questions, attorney Gary Smith co-presented during a “Weed in the Workplace” panel for the Yavapai County Contractors Association.

For instance, he discussed whether employees should be penalized if their blood tests indicate high levels of THC and whether an “off-duty” cannabis user an “on-duty” impaired employee. He also delved into the rich history and exciting future of hemp in construction, details of what is and is not prohibited in Arizona and the offenses that come with them, and which Arizona acts do or do not offer employment protection.
