Considered one of Arizona’s foremost experts on cannabis law, Guidant’s Gary Smith recently shared his extensive knowledge and insight with the Arizona Society of CPAs.
Gary participated on a panel discussion about “Arizona’s Burgeoning Cannabis and Hemp Industry,” imparting his understanding of cannabis history, applications, and legal evolutions, as well as answering moderator and audience questions about financial and operational aspects of running a cannabis business.
Guidant sponsored the event; Gary and the Guidant cannabis practice frequently advises clients on potential risks and regulatory compliance. They have represented companies and individuals in state and federal courts, administrative hearings, arbitration, and litigation.
A founding member of the Arizona Cannabis Bar Association, Gary also serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Cannabis Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he served as amici counsel to the former Director of the Arizona Department of Health Services in the Arizona Supreme Court petition State v. Jones, which restored cannabis extracts and concentrates to legal status under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
