The path to widespread cannabis legalization has been a long, bumpy road for the state of New York thus far. But in the wake of successfully navigating several licensing hurdles recently, the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and American Arbitration Association have invited Gary Smith and fellow industry leaders to provide their expertise to their latest Hybrid Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program.

In his presentation Why Is Arbitration Ideal for Resolving Cannabis Industry Disputes?, Gary provided expert insights and the latest information on the cannabis industry to his fellow lawyers.

The panel addressed a range of topics, including tips for drafting arbitration clauses for cannabis disputes, the types of agreements arbitration clauses can incorporate and the top obstacles arbitrators face in various cannabis disputes.

Founder and President of the Arizona Cannabis Bar Association, Gary is a leading cannabis attorney in Arizona who frequently shares insights for industry publications and organizations, as well as national and Arizona media. As a seasoned litigator, advisor, mediator and arbitrator, he assists cannabis clients and fellow attorneys in uncovering opportunities, overcoming challenges and navigating the cannabis industry’s complex legal landscape.
