The Marijuana Industry Trade Association (MITA) invited Gary Smith to serve as a panelist during its extensive social equity applicant mentorship program, a webinar series spanning five months in early 2021. Gary, a leading Arizona cannabis attorney, shared his expertise during the presentation, “Evolving Regulations: State Laws, Local Zoning and Federal Status.”

During his presentation, Gary discussed the nuances of Prop 203, Prop 207, SB1494 and various local ordinances. He provided invaluable information related to types of dispensary licenses available in the state as well as the Social Equity Ownership Program, which is designed to issue dispensary licenses to entities whose owners are from communities disproportionately impacted by the enforcement of previous marijuana laws.

Gary frequently shares his far-reaching cannabis law insights with media and industry groups. He founded and currently serves as president of the Arizona Cannabis Bar Association and is also a board member at the Arizona Cannabis Chamber of Commerce. He assists cannabis clients in uncovering opportunities, overcoming challenges and remaining compliant.
